Carnival Time!

We had a great Pre-trick-or-treating Birthday Halloween Carnival, with a lot of great kids, fantastic costumes and one happy birthday boy!

A Halloween Carnival Treat!

For my nephew's Halloween Birthday Carnival, we made some sweet and spooky treats.
One of my favorite treats we made were Caramel Apples!
We created our caramel sauce with caramel candies and orange juice. Keep stirring the mixture on low heat from time to time until completely melted.  We prepped the apples by dipping the apples in boiling water for about four seconds to melt away the wax coating on  the apples.

Take off the stem of the apples and insert the wooden craft sticks.
Submerge the apple in the caramel sauce and rotate the apple in the mixture where it covers the top of the apple around the stick.  Lift the apple out of the caramel sauce and let the ccaramel drip off the apple until the dripping almost stops.  Place on parchment paper, drizzle with chocolate and sprinkle with spooky sprinkles.
Voila!  A  special Halloween treat!

Witching Hour

Hi friends! Halloween is almost upon us, and I am planning to celebrating my nephews birthday with a Halloween Carnival- with pics to follow of course!
In the meantime, I have needed to plan a fashionable costume, and although, it is Thursday night, I finally whipped up a very magical and arguably the most important piece to my costume, besides magic and perhaps a broom...
I chose to be a witch- a pretty cliche choice, however, I decided to make it very unique with my
Witches Hat.  As I have been shopping around for a good base- I found many pre-made hats, all lacked the kind of magic I was looking for.  So I decided to make a piece with plenty of whimsy to make this witch costume unforgettable!
I began with a very plain and inexpensive Witches hat from a local party store. Then, began my challenge- adding bits and pieces of my favorite witchy fabrics and fanciful embellishments- rhinestones, bows, rosettes, buttons, and sweet little unexpected details to add my magic.
